WEBSITE DESIGN | UX DESIGN | UI DESIGN
As a co-founder of Ravishing.me, I put multiple hats while working on the project. Our target audience was the Indian market. I started working on the project by looking at the existing products in the market. I send out a survey to makeup artist and to the users to understand the way people search for a makeup artist, and how makeup artist expands and maintain their business. From the answers we received, I created a strategy for the Ravishing.me team. Along the way, I created a site map, wireframes, prototyped functionality, defined UI, and wrote specifications for design and behavior. I worked side by side with offsite UI and backend engineers during the entire process. In addition to product design work, I dabbled in project management as well—I tracked and updated requirements as the project developed, so our team always had a point of reference.
The Business Problem
A site for the artists that stands up to the quality of their work, while not having to spend hours to make their website look perfect, and making their work readily available to users.
Understanding the target audience was the crucial step in the process. I conducted customer and market research to drive the planning phase. The key insights defined the objectives for the product.
Goals & Objectives
The main goal of this project was to design a website where users can explore the different makeup artists.
Objectives that came with this goal:
The Design Problem
Competitive and user research helped us to define the features; we divided the functions into different releases; essential features for the first release and advanced features for the future release.
I followed the practice of Information Architecture by arranging the information in a way that is easy to understand, and can be scaled as the website grows (as we add features, for example). After many rounds of iterations, I finalized the structure which was easy to navigate and focused.
I started with sketching my designs on paper. I used paper prototyping techniques to bring the designs to life. This helped me work rapidly and led me to consider more ideas. Sketching many concepts helped me form a broader view of the system earlier ensuring a more cohesive design.
Once the wireframes were ready, I came up with suitable content to set the right tone for the product. I kept the color palette minimal as the website was image heavy.
